My all time favorite makeup was Ralph Lauren produced by Warner-Ralph Lauren Cosmetics. Ralph Lauren’s makeup had a very natural look and feel. I loved it! I traveled all around San Antonio and Austin, Texas. I worked Thursdays through Saturdays at Dillards, Joskes, Foleys, Frost Bros. and The Polo Shop. Then the competition became too great, Lancôme bought the Ralph Lauren cosmetic line and discontinued it. When Ralph Lauren was sold, Foleys hired me as a freelance makeup artist. My territory was San Antonio and Austin, Texas. In 1986 I had the ultimate opportunity working for Lilly Garfield in her store called, The COS BAR, located in Vail, Colorado. I represented 12 major cosmetic lines in this wonderful boutique. Each company trained us: Clinique, Lancôme, Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Christian Dior, Borghese…just to name a few. Though I was disappointed with the Lancôme Co. for discontinuing my favorite makeup, their product was the next to best. When the snow melted in Colorado we moved back to Texas, where I exclusively worked for Estee Lauder, at the Frost Brothers department stores. I soon tired of the Sunday work shifts so I found another charming boutique, Patricia’s European Skin Care. There I sold Dr.Grandel skin care and Trucco Makeup by Sebastian. For the last 15 years, I’ve used Nicole Miller now called, Sei Bella. Choosing makeup is similar to picking out clothes or even deciding on a car. It all depends on your budget and style. But, I’ll let you in on a secret. Cosmair Inc. was the company that bought Ralph Lauren for the purpose of discontinuing the strong competition. This same makeup corporation also owns L’Oreal. When I no longer had employee discounts, I purchased L’Oreal. In 2000, I converted my home to Melaleuca for Eco Friendly cleaning and laundry products. I used my “free spending points” to buy their makeup and skin care, Nicole Miller now called Sei Bella. Sei Bella uses natural ingredients combined with anti aging technologies.
